I am very excited to tell you that I have been selected to go to India next March, to work with NGOs that are in need of promoting their services, but lack the money to hire artists. I don’t know which organization I will be working with yet, because we are about 15 people and our interests and preferences (we were given a list of topics that we would be interested in photographing) vary, so the organizers have to match up photographers with NGOs . The program is through www.tpw.it in collaboration with www.changingideas.org. Changing Ideas works with NGOs around the world and artists who want to develop projects to help get resources for these organizations. Changing Ideas is also involved in helping different causes, so please check out their website, if you are interested in helping but are not sure how to do it.
I promise to post some photos next year, after I get back from Kolkata!
My first cover page!
As most of you remember, last year I took a trip to Vietnam, to photograph and orphanage sponsored by the Friends of Hue Foundation, based in San Jose. I had the pleasure to meet all these children and spent time with them, something that I would do again in a heartbeat, as it was a wonderful experience. Thanks to TN’s generosity, I received a copy of the newsletter published by them for Winter 08, where some of my photos were published… including the cover page! I got goose bumps when I saw it in that envelope… I had a great affinity with this little girl, so she appears in many of the photographs I took. So, I thought I would share this cover page with you… I hope you like it! I do!
